A violent thug from Ammanford has been sentenced to over eight years in prison after a brutal attack on a former friend that left the victim “broken, traumatised and confused” 😰
Kyle Thomas, 35, launched a merciless assault on his victim at a flat in Brynamman on November 29 last year after they had been drinking and taking drugs together.
Swansea Crown Court heard how Thomas punched the man repeatedly before using a weights bar to strike him. The defendant then tried to use a hammer to break his victim’s knees and threatened to castrate him with a knife after falsely claiming he was a paedophile.
Prosecutor Tom Scapens told the court: “The defendant tried to use a hammer to break his knees. He threatened to cut his penis before he covered him in bleach while he was in agony on the floor.”
The attack was so severe that Thomas poured bleach over his victim as he slipped in and out of consciousness on the floor. The man was later found covered in blood in his trashed home, with his mobile phone stolen, leaving him helpless.
Mr Scapens revealed the victim had no convictions for sex offences and there was no suggestion he was a paedophile.
Thomas, who has no fixed address, has a history of violence including previous convictions for assaulting his own mother and brother. The court heard his motto is: “Hit first, ask questions later – that’s how I was brought up.”
Judge Huw Rees sentenced Thomas, telling him: “You attacked your victim mercilessly and you covered him with bleach at one point. He was lucky he didn’t suffer life-threatening injuries. You left your one-time friend scared witless.”
Thomas pleaded guilty to grievous bodily harm with intent, criminal damage and theft. He was jailed for eight years and five months and given a 15-year restraining order preventing contact with his victim.
The victim has since moved away from Brynamman to live with his parents in another county ⚖️
