A 32-year-old Swansea woman has been sentenced to three years in prison following a violent attack that left a man with significant injuries including skull fractures and a brain bleed.
Sarah Giffard, from Waunarlwydd, carried out the unprovoked seven-minute assault on Plymouth Street in Swansea city centre on November 1 last year while in an intoxicated state. 😡
A Police Community Support Officer arrived at the scene within seconds of the assault, finding the victim unconscious. The man was rushed to hospital with fractures to his skull, cheekbone, collarbone, two ribs, and a bleed on the brain. Fortunately, his injuries were not life-threatening.
Sergeant Craig Evans said:
“Sarah Gifford launched a violent, unprovoked attack on an unsuspecting victim in broad daylight while she was under the effects of alcohol. She is now about to pay the price for her actions, which were completely unacceptable.
“Those who cause criminality in the city will be dealt with robustly.
“High visibility patrols will continue throughout the summer as part of Op Sentinel.”
Giffard has now been sentenced to three years imprisonment for the attack. ⚖️
