A St Asaph man who carried out two brutal assaults on separate victims has been jailed for four and-a-half years.

Frankie Harrison, 30, of Llwyn Elwy, appeared at Caernarfon Crown Court on Monday for sentencing after previously admitting multiple charges including two counts of inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent, intentional strangulation, and sending threatening communications.

The first attack took place on the morning of 9 July 2024 inside accommodation on East Parade, Rhyl. Following a dispute with a 37-year-old male resident, Harrison forced his way into the man’s room whilst threatening him with a pair of scissors. As the victim fell to the floor, Harrison strangled him before striking him multiple times to the face. The victim sustained bruising and swelling to his eye, a fractured eye socket, and nerve damage.

In a second violent incident on 29 May 2025, Harrison made threats towards the partner of his ex-girlfriend before breaking into the couple’s St Asaph home. He violently assaulted the woman’s boyfriend whilst in possession of a knife, causing significant injuries including lacerations to the top of his head, several facial fractures, and significant swelling and bruising.

Harrison fled the scene before officers arrived but was later arrested and charged. Alongside his prison sentence, five-year restraining orders were imposed to protect the victims of the St Asaph assault.

Detective Inspector Richard Evans said: “I welcome the sentence imposed today, which reflects the seriousness of these two unprovoked acts of violence. Both male victims suffered serious injuries as a result of Harrison’s unacceptable actions. Violent offending will not be tolerated, and the custodial term imposed means that Harrison is no longer able to pose a risk to the wider community. We remain committed to pursuing those who commit serious violence and to ensuring that victims are supported and offenders are brought before the courts. Officers will act decisively to protect our communities and hold violent criminals to account.”
