A prolific shoplifter who raided the same Boots store 10 times in just one week has been jailed and banned from every Boots and One Stop shop in Cardiff.

Christopher Storer, 30, targeted a Boots in Llanrumney throughout October, stealing toiletries worth more than £1,100 in his week-long spree. Cardiff Magistrates Court heard he had already been jailed in March this year for dozens of previous shoplifting offences across the city.

Storer, of Caernarvon Way, Trowbridge, Cardiff, was sentenced to six months in prison after pleading guilty. He will serve up to half the sentence in custody before being released on licence.

The court also imposed a community protection notice warning banning him from entering any Boots chemist or One Stop shop in Cardiff, as well as the Spar store on Abergele Road.

Speaking after sentencing, South Wales Police inspector Meg Butler – neighbourhood inspector for Llanedeyrn, Llanishen, Rumney and St Mellons – said: “Storer’s offending causes stress, anxiety and fear among employees at the shops he targets. His behaviour is also unpleasant for members of the public that have to witness his crimes.

“Businesses in our community and their staff deserve to feel safe, notices like this allow us to prevent further offending.”
