A man from Risca has been convicted of multiple serious sexual offences following a jury trial at Newport Crown Court.

Balazs Uliczki, 45, of Sarn Place, was found guilty of four counts of rape and three charges of assault by penetration of a woman aged 16 or over. The Hungarian national had denied all the offences.

Prosecutor Ieuan Bennett told the court that Uliczki will now have to register as a sex offender following his convictions. ⚖️

Judge Celia Hughes remanded Uliczki in custody after his barrister Kevin Seal made an unsuccessful application for conditional bail ahead of sentencing, which is scheduled for Thursday, July 10.

The judge indicated that prison was “almost inevitable” for the defendant. 🔒
