A 36-year-old woman from Port Talbot has been sentenced to four years in prison after deliberately starting a fire that could have endangered neighbouring properties. 🔥
Laura Evans admitted to setting fire to a towel within a property on Velindre Street, which then spread to a nearby bed and engulfed the entire bedroom in flames. Fortunately, no one else was present in the property at the time of the incident.
Detective Sergeant Jonathan Holding said: “Were it not for the intervention of the fire service, Laura Evans’ irresponsible and reckless actions could have resulted in significant damage being done not only to the address but also to several neighbouring properties too. “Cleary Laura poses a safety risk to others around her, so it is only right that she sees several years in prison.”
The sentencing took place this week following Evans’ admission to the arson charge.
