A repeat offender has been jailed for two years and four months after being caught with animated child abuse images, violating a court order designed to protect children. 📱⚖️

Scarlett Lee, 30, previously known as Scott Henwood, was discovered with 80 animated images depicting adults engaging in sexual activity with children on her computer. The images were found in May last year when a support worker at her accommodation in Bridgend noticed sexual content on Lee’s phone and alerted management.

When questioned, Lee told staff: “There’s probably stuff I shouldn’t have on my laptop.” Police seized multiple devices, including a PC tower containing the disturbing folder.

Lee had already been made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) in February 2023 for possessing prohibited images of children. She further breached this order in March by using her new name, Scarlett Lee, to access a YouTube account without informing authorities of her name change by deed poll.

At Cardiff Crown Court on Tuesday, the court heard Lee has three previous convictions for breaching SHPOs and had already received a suspended prison sentence.

In mitigation, defence barrister Bethan Evans cited Lee’s mental health issues, autism and bipolar disorder diagnoses, and isolation following her transition and loss of family contact.

However, Recorder of Cardiff Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke was clear in her assessment: “You have no regard for orders made by the court. You have a persistent interest in child abuse images, but you deny having a sexual interest in children or of understanding the SHPO.”

The judge added there was “no or little realistic prospect of rehabilitation” before sentencing Lee to imprisonment.

Lee will remain subject to sex offender notification requirements and the Sexual Harm Prevention Order upon release.
