Newport Man Convicted of Historical Child Rape Offences

A Newport man has been convicted of multiple rape offences against a young girl dating back more than three decades. ⚖️

Shaun Lampitt, 51, of Magor Street, Newport, was found guilty of three counts of rape following a trial at Newport Crown Court. The offences took place in the late 1980s and early 1990s in Newport.

Prosecutor Laurence Jones told the jury that the attacks occurred in the city more than 30 years ago.

The defendant had denied all charges but was convicted by the jury.

Judge Daniel Williams remanded Lampitt in custody following the verdicts. He is scheduled to be sentenced on Friday, 20th June.

The defendant was represented by Harry Baker during the trial.
