A Gloucester man has been sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving following a collision in Prestatyn in December 2020.

James Price, 41, of Tewkesbury Road, Gloucester, appeared before Mold Crown Court today (Monday) and was also disqualified from driving for four and a half years.

The collision took place on the evening of 9th December 2020 on Bodnant Avenue at the junction with Nant Hall Road in Prestatyn, involving a Peugeot 208 and a pedestrian.

Following the impact, Price stopped his vehicle and dragged the pedestrian into the middle of the road before leaving the scene without calling for assistance. The victim suffered life-changing leg injuries.

North Wales Police launched an appeal for witnesses at the time, and following a complex and lengthy investigation, Price was charged with the offence.

Sergeant Duncan Logan of the North Wales Police Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “This case is a stark reminder of how dangerous driving can destroy lives in an instant. The victim in this case has suffered life-changing leg injuries because of James Price’s actions and our thoughts remain with him and his family.

“I would like to thank all those who bravely came forward to provide us with the crucial information we needed to pursue a charge against Price.

“We would urge all drivers to think carefully about the consequences of their decisions behind the wheel – one moment of recklessness can change lives forever.”
