A 66-year-old man has avoided prison despite being found with dozens of indecent videos and images of children on his devices. 📱⚖️
Keith Wilson appeared at Mold Crown Court where he received a nine-month suspended sentence for making indecent images in the most serious category A.
North Wales Police received information about a Google account linked to Wilson, with indecent material being uploaded on 19th October 2022. Officers later searched Wilson’s caravan in Llanaber near Barmouth, where he was living with his husband, seizing a hard drive, laptop and mobile phone.
The court heard Wilson’s footage showed victims aged seven to 14. On the hard drive, police discovered 48 category A movies and nine category B movies. The laptop contained one category A movie and two category B movies, whilst a single category C image was found on the mobile phone.
Prosecutor Amy Edwards told the court that 42 of the films “indicated a sexual interest in children.” Wilson told police he had obtained the material “many years ago but not deleted it.”
He also admitted to officers that he had been “banned from Facebook for making inappropriate jokes” and that “there may be 15 indecent images from gay porn chat rooms” on his devices.
The Recorder Paul Lewis KC sentenced retired Wilson, now of Long Lane, Waverton, Chester, to nine months for category A offences, 30 weeks for category B, and one week for category C – all running concurrently and suspended for two years.
Wilson must attend up to 25 days of rehabilitation activity, comply with a ten-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order controlling his internet use, and register as a sex offender for ten years.
