A man who violently assaulted his partner at a Welsh holiday park has been sentenced to 30 months in prison. Jamie Rogers, 28, attacked the woman twice during their stay at Quay West holiday park in New Quay, Ceredigion.

Swansea Crown Court heard Rogers was already under a suspended sentence for assaulting a previous partner when the incident occurred in April 2023.

The attack began outside the park’s clubhouse after Rogers became aggressive when parents questioned him about giving money to children for game machines. He verbally abused his partner before throwing her to the ground twice.

Later, in their caravan, Rogers launched a second assault, repeatedly punching the victim until she lost consciousness. “I genuinely believe that I was going to die that day,” the victim told WalesOnline. “I was purple from head to toe, black eye, swollen face and body.”

Judge Huw Rees told Rogers: “I readily come to the conclusion that you do not know how to treat a woman, certainly when you are in drink.”

The defendant received 24 months for the holiday park assault plus six months of his previously suspended sentence. He’s also subject to a seven-year restraining order.

The victim urges women with concerns about partners to use Clare’s Law, which allows access to information about domestic abuse history through the police.
