Armed police rushed to a Caernarfon street after Mark Griffiths, 29, pointed an imitation firearm at a man and his mother during a heated feud. 🚨
Children were heard screaming in terror as Griffiths, also known as Mark Fango, threatened Clive Jones and his mother Jane Brownley on September 15 last year, with chilling words: “Are you ready to die?” and “Hey Clive, you’re dying tonight.”
CCTV footage played in court captured the terrifying incident near Siop Sheena, where children in pyjamas who had ventured outside could be heard screaming. One child was heard repeatedly saying in Welsh: “Mam, I want to go home.”
Ms Brownley recounted the frightening moment: “I shouted ‘don’t shoot me, you f****** bastard’.”
Griffiths pleaded guilty to possession of an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and was sentenced to four years and six months in prison at Mold Crown Court.
Her Honour Judge Nicola Jones expressed her sadness about the incident in her hometown, stating: “This kind of behaviour wrecks people who live in that part of Caernarfon’s lives. We hear children screaming and that clearly is an aggravating factor.”
The judge also noted: “It’s with sadness that I see someone behaving in this way in Caernarfon which is a small area where everybody knows everybody. I hope that when you are released you will feel genuine remorse and not behave in this way in future.”
A five-year restraining order was also imposed, prohibiting Griffiths from approaching or contacting his victims. The imitation weapon has never been recovered, which the judge described as “extremely concerning.”
