A 25-year-old father-of-six from Ebbw Vale has been ordered to hand over £12,395 of his ill-gotten gains after a proceeds of crime hearing determined he made more than £40,000 selling cocaine. ⚖️

Grant Morgan, of Heathfield Close, Garnlydan, appeared at Newport Crown Court where prosecutor Daniel Jones told the court the defendant had profited by £40,397.67 from drug trafficking.

Judge Carl Harrison ordered Morgan to hand over his available assets of £12,395 within three months or face an additional 12 months in jail.

Morgan was previously sentenced to two years and eight months in prison last July at Cardiff Crown Court. During that hearing, Judge Paul Hobson was told police found 150g of cocaine when they raided Morgan’s home.

The prosecution claimed the drugs had a street value between £12,000 and £15,000, although Morgan disputed this, claiming they were worth less than £10,000.

Officers also discovered more than £9,000 in cash during the raid.

Morgan pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of the class A drug in Ebbw Vale between February 22, 2024 and June 21, 2024. He also admitted possession of cannabis.

Following his release from custody, Morgan will have to pay a £228 victim surcharge, and the drugs will be forfeited and destroyed.
