A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to prison after being caught dealing Class A drugs while riding an electric bike through a children’s play area in Cardiff. 🚔

Tegan Smith was arrested on Monday, March 10, when plain-clothed officers patrolling Trelai Park in Caerau spotted him conducting a drug deal. The officers were in the area responding to community concerns about anti-social behaviour and drugs.

Upon his arrest, Smith was found in possession of £4,000 worth of Class A drugs in various packaging, four mobile phones, and cash. One of the phones contained messages dating back to January showing he had been offering to supply controlled drugs.

Smith pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of controlled drugs of Class A (crack cocaine and heroin), possession with intent to supply controlled drugs of Class A (crack cocaine, cocaine and heroin), and possession of criminal property.

At Newport Crown Court on Tuesday, April 8, he was sentenced to three years and eight months in prison.

“South Wales Police has a zero-tolerance approach to drug dealing and this is just one example of the work we are doing,” said South Wales Police.

“We will not tolerate drugs in our communities, and we are constantly targeting those are thought to be involved in the supply of controlled drugs.

“We can, and regularly do, act upon the information provided to us by the public, so please keep it coming and continue to work with us.”
