A 28-year-old man from Caerphilly has been given a suspended prison sentence after admitting to possessing over 1,000 indecent images of children alongside extreme pornographic material involving animals.
The offences
Sean Hart, of Cardiff Road, Caerphilly, pleaded guilty at Cardiff Crown Court to four charges. These included making 301 category A indecent photographs of a child – the most serious classification – as well as 409 images at category B and 420 at category C. He also admitted possessing extreme pornographic videos depicting a person engaging in sexual activity with an animal.
The offending spanned a period from February 6, 2020 to April 12, 2024.
Sentencing
Judge Shomon Khan handed Hart a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for 12 months. He was also ordered to complete 100 hours of unpaid work and a 20-day rehabilitation activity requirement.
Hart must register as a sex offender and was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order, both lasting 10 years. He was additionally ordered to pay a £149 surcharge.
