A drug dealer was found in possession of more than £3,000 worth of cannabis and amphetamine when police raided his home. Messages on his phone revealed he was also involved in the supply of cocaine and MDMA. 🚔
Dennis Williams, 41, was raided at his home in Caerphilly on November 21, 2023 where various amounts of drugs and drug paraphernalia were discovered. Officers found 251.27g of cannabis and 77.5g of amphetamine with a combined street value between £2,895 and £3,280.
A sentencing hearing at Newport Crown Court on Thursday heard the items seized included plant growth, lights, equipment, snap bags and compost. Prosecutor Pamela Kaiga said the defendant’s phone was examined and messages were found relating to the supply of cocaine, MDMA and cannabis.
Williams, of Gwaun Newydd, Lansbury Park, later pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply class B drugs, two counts of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and one count of being concerned in the supply of a class B drug. The court heard he was of previous good character.
In mitigation, Ed Mitchard said his client was taken into care as a child after his father, who fathered 13 children, was convicted and imprisoned for benefit fraud. He is of slight build and has learning difficulties, which led to him being ridiculed and physically bullied. The defendant was also blamed by his brothers for the death of his mother, for whom he was sole carer. Mr Mitchard said his client has an addiction to class A and B drugs and alcohol.
Recorder Paul Lewis sentenced Williams to a total of 40 months imprisonment. He will serve half the sentence in custody before he is released to serve the remainder on licence. ⚖️
