A burglar will be spending Christmas in prison after admitting to breaking into a Newport bingo hall.
Daniel Barrington, 38, pleaded guilty to burglary at Castle Bingo in Newport, where he stole £45 on 16 September.
Newport Magistrates’ Court heard the case from prosecutor Nicholas Evans, whilst defence lawyer Lynda Rhead requested her client receive the appropriate discount for his guilty plea.
Barrington, of no fixed abode in Newport, was sentenced to four weeks’ immediate custody and ordered to pay compensation following his release.
The four-week sentence means Barrington will remain in custody throughout the Christmas period.
