A 65-year-old man from Barry has been sentenced to 24 years in prison after being found guilty of multiple child sex offences. ⚖️
Mark Jones appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on Friday, April 4, where he received a 24-year prison sentence with an extended licence period of one year following his conviction on numerous serious charges.
The court found Jones guilty of rape, three counts of raping a child under 13, six counts of sexual assault, nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13, engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child, four counts of assault by penetration of a child under the age of 13, assault by penetration, two counts of causing a child under 13 to engage in sexual activity, and two counts of causing a child to engage in sexual activity.
In addition to his prison sentence, Jones was issued a restraining order protecting all four victims.
Detective Constable Natalie Revers said: “Mark Jones is a sexual predator who preyed on the vulnerability of multiple victims, so we are pleased with the court outcome following his offences.
“Despite the ages of the victims, Jones’ actions have had a profound effect on them. We hope that this sentence helps the victims and their families move forward.”
