Abergavenny man sentenced for child abuse images

A paedophile caught with vile child sex abuse photographs and videos has been sentenced.

Mark Westbrook, 59, from Abergavenny, was handed an eight-month prison sentence, suspended for 24 months, at Newport Magistrates’ Court.

The defendant admitted making eight category A indecent images of children – the most serious classification – along with two category B and two category C indecent images of children.

Westbrook’s offences took place between 30th May and 25th June.

The custodial sentence was suspended due to the defendant’s early guilty pleas and previous clean character.

He must complete a 10-day rehabilitation activity requirement and register as a sex offender for the next 10 years.

Westbrook, of Gwent Road, Llantilio Pertholey, was also made subject to a 10-year sexual harm prevention order. He must pay a £187 victim surcharge and £85 costs.
