A serial shoplifter has been sent to prison after repeatedly targeting the same convenience store in a three-month crime spree.

Lucy Williams, 31, made six separate trips to the Co-op on Tregwilym Road in Rogerstone, Newport, between October 19 and January 14, each time walking out with stolen goods.

The habitual offender helped herself to more than £200 worth of meat and coffee during the string of thefts at her local shop.

Her repeated offending landed her back before Newport Magistrates’ Court, where prosecutors revealed the crimes had also breached a suspended prison sentence Williams had received for previous theft offences at the very same store.

The court heard Williams is “operating as a professional criminal” ⚖️

Williams, of Thornbury Park in Rogerstone, was sentenced to 26 weeks behind bars and must pay compensation to the store upon her release.
