Vandals Target Children’s Slide with Dog Mess in Swansea Park

Parents and children were shocked to discover a children’s slide at Manselton Park had been vandalised with dog mess smeared down its entire length on Saturday, March 1. 😡

Swansea Council has condemned the incident, with a statement reading: “The council has taken immediate steps to clean the play equipment once we were informed of the incident. We are appalled at the actions of individuals who have intentionally put the safety and the health of young children at risk.”

Cwmbwrla ward councillor Peter Black said: “It is terrible vandalism, depriving local children of a much-loved facility. I would encourage anybody who sees this sort of behaviour to report it to the police.”

The incident sparked outrage on social media, with one person writing: “The mentality of some of these kids makes me question, what the hell is next from them”, whilst another added: “That is a vile thing to do, whoever did that is not right in the head.” Others commented: “Disgusting behaviour, no respect” and “What is wrong with these kids these days?”

Swansea Council urged anyone with information to contact the police to “prevent this from happening again,” noting that “millions of pounds are continuing to be invested in play areas across the city so that families and children can have fun and play in a safe environment.”

South Wales Police superintendent Dave Cole said: “South Wales Police takes all reports of vandalism seriously, if anyone has seen anything we urge them to report it to us, so that we can investigate and prosecute those involved if sufficient evidence is available.”
