A Swansea man who launched a series of violent attacks on his partner whilst already on bail for domestic violence has been jailed for 32 months.
David Bradshaw, 34, from Birchgrove, was arrested on August 22 after crashing his partner’s car in Sketty whilst drunk-driving. He had taken the vehicle without her consent and was disqualified from driving at the time. During his arrest, he kicked a police officer in the head. The crash left Bradshaw with a head injury requiring hospital treatment.
Just over a week later, whilst under the influence of alcohol, Bradshaw threw a television at his partner before grabbing her and pulling out some of her hair extensions. He then repeatedly kicked the victim whilst she was on the floor.
The incidents occurred whilst the former boxer was already on remand for a previous domestic violence offence against the same victim, which had left her with a broken jaw.
Bradshaw pleaded guilty to inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent on October 17. He also changed his pleas from not guilty to guilty for assault by beating of an emergency worker, driving whilst disqualified, and aggravated vehicle-taking.
PC Adam Jones said: “David Bradshaw is clearly a violent bully, who left his victim fearing for their life. He is also highly insecure, with his assault coming about after falsely accusing his partner of being unfaithful. His violence clearly knows no bounds, as he showed by also attacking a police officer, but justice has again caught up with him. We hope that the victim is able to move on with her life, safe in the knowledge that David Bradshaw is behind bars.”
