A paedophile has been jailed for 32 months after travelling to Ireland using a fake identity and failing to notify police of his movements 🚨

Steven Allen, 47, of no fixed abode, breached his sexual harm prevention order when he travelled to Fishguard port on 16th July, giving his name as “Alexander Freeman” and claiming he had lost his wallet and was visiting friends in Ireland.

The convicted sex offender, who has 18 previous convictions for 37 offences including indecently assaulting boys under 14 and 16 in 2000, was supposed to report to Haverfordwest police station weekly after his release from prison on 8th July.

Allen was arrested on 31st July whilst attempting to board a ferry as a foot passenger. He refused to leave his prison cell to attend sentencing at Swansea Crown Court.

Judge Paul Thomas KC described Allen’s breach as “flagrant” and said his refusal to attend court was “symptomatic of his attitude and showed there was little hope of rehabilitation at the present time.”

The court heard Allen has repeatedly breached court orders since 2004, including being caught in a skate park with a child, having unauthorised contact with children, and using banned social media accounts.

Defence barrister Ryan Bowen said Allen had been “turned away from hotels and other temporary accommodation” after his release and ended up living in a tent, describing it as a “sobering and hopeless situation to be in.”

In 2021, a judge told Allen: “You are an entrenched paedophile. On the basis of your antecedents it’s only a matter of time in my judgement before you would offend again.”

Allen will serve up to half his sentence in custody before being released on licence. His sexual harm prevention order remains in place until 2028 ⚖️
