A 23-year-old Denbighshire man has been sentenced to three years in prison after filming himself abusing two dogs and possessing thousands of indecent images of children.

Jack Tyler, of Carrog near Corwen, appeared at Truro Crown Court today where he pleaded guilty to multiple charges including causing unnecessary suffering to animals, sexual abuse of dogs, and possession and distribution of indecent images.

The court heard that the National Crime Agency discovered over 3,000 indecent images and videos on Tyler’s devices, including content involving babies and children, which he had shared on Telegram.

In what Judge Simon Carr described as “the most disturbing list of sexual offences” he had to sentence, the court was told Tyler filmed himself sexually abusing and beating two family dogs. A veterinary report revealed the animals had “lost their fight-or-flight ability” due to the extreme abuse. One dog had to be put down, while the other was removed from the home and later died.

“It’s as bad a case of animal cruelty and bestiality you can imagine,” said Judge Carr. “You have no empathy or remorse or understanding of the harm that you have caused.”

Despite defence arguments citing Tyler’s autism and isolation, Judge Carr imposed a three-year prison sentence, lifetime registration as a sex offender, and a 10-year internet ban. Tyler is also prohibited from keeping animals. 👨‍⚖️
