Welsh Firework Display Mishap Leaves Children “Traumatised”

Organisers of a fireworks show at Mynyddgarreg Hall, near Kidwelly, have issued an apology after several spectators, including two children, were struck by misfiring rockets during Tuesday’s display.

“We are sorry for any distress caused,” stated the venue, noting their 30-year safety record before acknowledging that one rocket “unfortunately did not fire in the direction intended.”

The incident occurred three minutes into the half-hour display, affecting brothers Oliver, 7, and Charlie, 11. Their mother Rhian reported: “They were coming towards us then going off, we didn’t know where to turn or if more were heading towards us, so we rushed back as fast as we could.”

Another attendee, Alan Wall, described protecting his daughter as fireworks “were bouncing everywhere,” while his partner Gemma was struck in the face. “It was extensive, the amount of fireworks that went off in the crowd. It was a mad rush to leave,” he said.

The venue confirmed no serious injuries were reported and is now working with local authorities to review safety procedures. Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service responded to reports at 19:26 GMT but their assistance wasn’t required. 🚒
