A group of teenagers has been jailed after a stabbing with a ‘zombie’ knife outside a McDonald’s in Milford Haven.
18-year-old Mcauley Brown was sentenced to three years and two months detention after pleading guilty on the day of trial to stabbing one man and threatening another with a knife.
His accomplices, Haydn Blockwell and Haydn Ashton, also appeared in the dock having both admitted affray.
Swansea Crown Court heard that a car containing the three defendants pulled alongside the victims on Victoria Bridge in the early hours of August 24. The defendants shouted “We’ll stab you up” and “We’ll shut you up” before driving off.
When the victims were standing outside McDonald’s with friends, the car pulled up again. The three defendants got out, and Brown – who was wearing a balaclava – punched one of the men before pulling out what appeared to be a “hunting knife or zombie knife” from his waistband.
Brown then stabbed the victim in the shoulder with the six-inch blade, causing a two-centimetre wide and “deep” wound. After the attack, the three assailants ran back to their car “laughing” and fled the scene.
“This was a piece of mindless violence on the streets of Milford Haven at night,” Judge Huw Rees said as he sentenced the trio.
Brown’s defence lawyer Mark Sahu stated: “It’s a nasty incident. He knows he will be punished for it.” He added that Brown had said: “Of course I feel sorry for what I’ve done but I’ll do my time.”
Hannah George, representing Blockwell, told the court he had said: “I should’ve listened to my mother and not gone out that evening.”
Blockwell, 18, of James Street in Hakin, was sentenced to 16 months detention but will be released immediately due to time already spent in custody.
Ashton, 19, of Larch Road in Milford Haven, received a suspended sentence of 13 months with 150 hours of unpaid work.
Both victims were granted seven-year restraining orders against their attackers. ⚖️
