A 54-year-old man has been remanded in custody after being found guilty of child sex offences following a trial at Newport Magistrates’ Court. ⚖️

Andrew Lewis, of Auckland Close, Oakdale, Blackwood, was convicted of engaging in sexual activity in the presence of a child under 13 and exposure.

Prosecutor Robert Reid told the court that the offences happened over the summer. Lewis, who was represented by Nathan Jones, had denied both charges.

The case has now been committed to the crown court, where Lewis is due to be sentenced on 6th October. District Judge Sophie Toms ordered that the defendant be remanded in custody ahead of sentencing.

The conviction follows a trial where Lewis was found guilty of both charges against him. 🏛️
