Newport Pensioner Admits 1,000+ Child Abuse Images

A 79-year-old Newport pensioner has admitted possessing more than 1,000 indecent images of children.

Alfred Bale, of Malmesbury Close, pleaded guilty at Newport Magistrates’ Court to three counts of making an indecent photograph/pseudo-photograph of a child.

The court heard that Bale had 256 category A images – the most serious classification – along with 271 category B images and 584 category C images.

He also admitted possessing 40 extreme pornographic images showing bestiality.

Prosecutor Laura Thomas told the court that Bale’s offences occurred on 10th September 2024.

The defendant has been granted unconditional bail and will be sentenced at crown court on 24th July.
