A London-based drug dealer who directed a Class A drug operation in Cardiff has been jailed for over six years following a joint police operation between South Wales Police and the Metropolitan Police Service. 🚔
Ebenezer Ankomah-Edjei, 34, was found guilty of four charges related to the supply of heroin and crack cocaine after denying his involvement in the drug operation. He was sentenced last Friday (May 2) at Cardiff Crown Court to six and a half years imprisonment.
When officers executed a warrant at his Camden home in June 2024, they found Ankomah-Edjei in bed with 70 wraps of crack cocaine and heroin in his hands. Mobile devices seized during the raid provided evidence of his leading role within the county line operation.
His Cardiff-based runner, Elisha Kohnstamm, 27, who pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of heroin and crack cocaine, was sentenced last Thursday to a two-year community order after spending 11 months on remand.
Detective Constable Bathan Williams from South Wales Police said: “Ebenezer Ankomah-Edjei profited from selling Class A drugs to users on the streets of Cardiff with no care or remorse on the impact and destruction it caused the Cardiff community.”
The investigation began in January 2024 when the Cardiff and Vale Organised Crime Team uncovered a drugs line advertising to Cardiff-based drug users, with further enquiries revealing its connection to London-based individuals.
South Wales Police emphasised their zero-tolerance approach to drug dealing, stating: “We will not tolerate drugs in our communities, and we are constantly targeting those are thought to be involved in the supply of controlled drugs. We can, and regularly do, act upon the information provided to us by the public, so please keep it coming and continue to work with us.”
