A Llandudno man has been handed a 16-week prison sentence after he was found with a woman he was banned from contacting under the terms of a Domestic Abuse Protection Order.
Terrence Roberts, 59, of King’s Road, Llandudno, admitted to breaching the DAPO when he appeared at Llandudno Magistrates’ Court earlier this week.
The breach
On 4 January, North Wales Police officers discovered Roberts at his home address in the company of a woman whom he was strictly prohibited from contacting under the protection order.
The terms of the DAPO explicitly stated that Roberts was not to contact or approach the woman by any means whatsoever, including through social media platforms.
The sentence
Following his admission of guilt, magistrates imposed a 16-week custodial sentence for the offence, sending a clear message that breaches of protective orders designed to safeguard vulnerable individuals will be dealt with robustly by the courts.
