Cwmbran man guilty of threats to blow up house and stab woman

A 21-year-old man has been convicted of making violent threats towards a woman after a trial at Newport Magistrates’ Court.

Morgan Smith, of Marl Court, Thornhill, Cwmbran, was found guilty of harassment and threatening to destroy property. The offences took place between September 4 and October 27.

The threats

The court heard that Smith had threatened to blow up the victim’s home and to stab her. He denied all the charges against him but was convicted following a trial.

Sentence

Smith was ordered to pay a total of £1,060, made up of a fine, costs, compensation and a surcharge. A three-year restraining order was also put in place, banning him from making any contact with the victim.
