A 26-year-old man has been jailed after police discovered incriminating messages on his mobile phone showing his involvement in supplying heroin and cocaine. 📱⚖️
Christopher-Olivier Jean-Francois was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court on Wednesday after pleading guilty to two counts of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs.
The court heard that messages on Jean-Francois’ phone referred to the sale of “actual H” and in one message he stated: “He only wants a couple of grams.”
Prosecutor Laurence Jones told the court the defendant was also involved in conversations about cocaine, referring to supplying “nine to eight ounces of soft” and mentioning that the lowest price for half a kilogram was £13,500.
Mr Jones added that a drug expert made reference to Jean-Francois “being involved in the supply of class A drugs for financial gain.” He was considered a “street dealer”, selling directly to users.
Jean-Francois, of East Tyndall Street, Splott, Cardiff, has one previous conviction for drink driving.
In mitigation, Ruth Smith said her client came to the UK as a traveller in October last year and was initially supported by his father, a teacher who has businesses in America. He is the father of a seven-month-old baby but faces being deported as a result of his sentence.
Sentencing, Judge Shomon Khan said: “Over a significant period of time you were concerned in the supply of cocaine and over a shorter period of time you were concerned in the supply of heroin.”
Jean-Francois was sentenced to three years and nine months imprisonment. He will serve half his sentence in custody before he is deported to his home country.
