Two men from Swansea have been sentenced to prison after carrying out an unprovoked street robbery and using their victim’s bank card to buy alcohol. 💳⚖️

Keiron Gordon, 24, from Townhill, and Scott Simmonds, 36, of no fixed abode, approached their unknown victim on Oxford Street on 15th March. One of the men punched the victim in the face without provocation, causing him to fall to the ground.

The pair told the victim not to move whilst one held him down and the other emptied his pockets, stealing his wallet and mobile phone. They then used the victim’s bank card to purchase alcohol.

Both men were identified using facial recognition technology and arrested days later. Gordon received 30 months in prison, whilst Simmonds was sentenced to 40 months.

Detective Inspector Stuart Prendiville said: “Nobody should have to walk our city streets in fear of thugs like Keiron Gordon and Scott Simmonds. Their assault of the victim, which was no doubt fuelled by having consumed drugs and alcohol, was cowardly and completely unacceptable. The fact that they thought this was a crime they would get away with speaks volumes for their poor character. Prison is the right place for them.”
