Swansea Man Jailed for Violent Attack and Sexual Assault

A Swansea man has been sentenced to three years in prison after being found guilty of ABH and sexual assault at Swansea Crown Court.

James Birmingham, 47, from Cwmbwrla, carried out an unprovoked and prolonged attack on his victim before sexually assaulting them at their home in November 2023.

Detective Constable Abi Doxsey praised the victim’s courage, saying: “With this sentence, a violent and extremely dangerous individual is now unable to pose a threat to women for a number of years. I would like to commend the role the victim has played in aiding our investigation, as well as their bravery to attend the Crown Court trial in person.” ⚖️
