A Pontypool woman has been sentenced after assaulting both a police officer and a prison security officer in separate incidents.
Cindy Taylor, 48, of Barn Close, Trevethin, attacked PC Jordan Williams by “donkey kicking” him and spitting in his face after police responded to reports of her walking with knives. She also directed verbal abuse at the officer.
In a separate incident six weeks later, Taylor assaulted experienced prison security officer Jayne Waspe during a transfer from Ystrad Mynach police station, pulling her hair, kicking her, and spitting at her. 🚔
“She describes being a shell of her former self. She’s now nervous and withdrawn,” Judge Richard Kember noted regarding the impact on Officer Waspe, who has 14 years of service.
Taylor, who appeared via video link from HMP Eastwood Park, had already served more than 12 months on remand. Judge Kember sentenced her to 12 weeks in prison, meaning she will be released immediately. She was also ordered to pay a victim surcharge.
