A Pembroke Dock man sent explicit images and engaged in sexualised conversations with what he believed were underage girls after they accepted his Facebook friend requests.

Stuart Devey, 53, formerly of Laws Street, Pembroke Dock, was caught by paedophile hunter groups after having inappropriate conversations with four adult decoys posing as girls aged between 12 and 14.

Swansea Crown Court heard the first offence occurred on 18 August last year, when Devey asked explicit sexual questions and sent images of his genitals. Prosecutor Georgia Donohue told the court: “He asked this ‘girl’ if she liked c**k and if she had ever been f*****. The defendant said he liked young girls and asked her if she would like to see his penis. He sent her a picture of his penis and he asked her if she fancied him.”

The second and third offences followed a similar pattern. His final offence took place on 21 August 2024, involving sexualised conversations with a supposed 12-year-old girl during which he asked if “she wanted to see a picture of his d*** and if she could show him her vagina”.

Devey pleaded guilty to four counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child. He had no previous convictions.

Defence lawyer Dan Griffiths told the court: “He is under no illusions as to the seriousness of these offences. The defendant was drinking excessive amounts of alcohol at the time.” Mr Griffiths added: “He is capable of change – there is a realistic prospect of rehabilitation.”

Judge Geraint Walters told Devey: “These offences represent a significant fall from grace for you. It’s a disturbing case. You were quite willing to talk to someone like this who you thought was 12 years old.”

Devey, now of Gower Street, Walsall, was jailed for 12 months with the sentence suspended for 18 months. He must complete a 35-day rehabilitation activity requirement and observe a 90-day alcohol abstinence and monitoring requirement. He must register as a sex offender for 10 years and was made subject to a sexual harm prevention order.
