A 72-year-old former teacher and youth football club chairman has been sentenced to 15 years after continuing his pattern of sexual abuse against young boys, Swansea Crown Court has heard.
Christopher Flavin, from Crickhowell, was described by prosecutors as “nothing other than a committed, calculating, and dangerous paedophile” with a history of offending spanning several decades.
The court heard that Flavin’s most recent crimes occurred in 2023, involving the sexual assault of a schoolboy and the possession of over 300 indecent images.
His young victim bravely shared: “I hope he never has the chance to do this to anyone again.”
Judge Geraint Walters imposed an extended sentence, noting that “despite his advancing years” Flavin continued to offend whilst showing no remorse and attempting to blame his victims.
The sentence includes 10 years in custody and a five-year extended licence period. Flavin must serve at least two-thirds of the custodial term before being considered for release by the Parole Board. He will remain on the sex offenders register for life. ⚖️
