A Swansea man has been jailed for subjecting his partner to horrific attacks, including punching, throttling, and biting her face during a violent three-month relationship.
Jordan Coles, 27, from Birchgrove, met the victim on a night out in April. The relationship quickly became “very intense”, with Coles’s initially perceived keenness revealing itself as controlling and jealous behaviour.
The attacks escalated from April through July, including incidents at the Pumphouse pub in Swansea Marina and the victim’s Gowerton home. In one particularly violent episode, Coles bit the victim’s face, saying “Nobody will fancy you when I’ve finished with you”.
The final assault on July 29 saw the mother-of-three forced to escape through a window after Coles strangled her and punched her in the stomach. She required hospital treatment for multiple injuries, including ligature marks to her neck.
“He has ripped my life apart and impacted my relationship with my daughters,” the victim said in her impact statement, describing ongoing flashbacks and panic attacks.
Judge Catherine stated she had “no doubt he is a danger to women”. Coles was sentenced to 46 months in prison after pleading guilty to battery, strangulation, and three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
