A Tonypandy man has been sentenced to two years in prison after posting racist content on social media.

Daffron Williams, 41, from Clydach, was jailed at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday after publishing racially prejudiced messages on Facebook between July and August 2023.

South Wales Police stated: “We hope this case sends a very clear message to people who think they can hide behind a screen and publish racially prejudiced posts without consequence. It’s not a case of preventing ‘freedom of speech’ as a small minority of people will claim. Freedom of speech is not freedom to spread racial hatred.”

The force added: “We would like to thank members of the public for alerting us to these types of posts which can be extremely harmful to all of our communities.” 🚔
