A Swansea man has been sentenced to 20 months in prison after being caught trying to sell a stolen lamp at a nearby shop.
Daniel Allen, 38, from Waun Wen, burgled a property on Gomer Road in Townhill, stealing a lamp, ornaments, computers, phones and trainers. His attempt to sell the lamp led to his identification as the suspect.
Allen pleaded guilty to burglary at Swansea Magistrates Court on 13 November and was sentenced to 20 months imprisonment. At the time of the investigation, he had already been remanded for 13 shoplifting offences.
Detective Constable Liam Jenkins said: “Daniel Allen had already been remanded for 13 shoplifting offences at the time of the investigation into this burglary. Whilst he was known to the victim, any burglary will cause worry amongst all those who live on the victim’s street, so I hope that they can feel some relief in knowing Daniel Allen is going to prison. It is very disappointing that Daniel continues to offend in this way.”
