An 81-year-old man has been sentenced to nine years for sexually assaulting two young girls in Cardiff.
Royston Gill, from Llandaff North, received an extended sentence at Cardiff Crown Court on Wednesday, 27th November. He will serve five years in custody followed by a four-year licence period.
The court heard that despite his frail appearance, Gill poses a high risk to children. He pleaded guilty to two counts of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching, with the offences taking place in August 2023 and July 2024.
Detective Constable Rhiannon Phillips from South Wales Police said: “I would like to commend the bravery of the victims in coming forward to police. It has been a traumatic time for everyone involved and we hope the outcome at court provides some comfort.”
“South Wales Police takes all reports of sexual violence extremely seriously. Help and support is available for all victims of sexual violence, and we would encourage any victims; no matter how long ago the offence happened, to please come forward.” ⚖️
