A Caernarfon man who rang his former partner 200 times, turned up uninvited at her home and punched her in the face has been jailed for 12 months.
Tony Jones, 29, of Maes Heulog, Caernarfon, admitted assault causing actual bodily harm to the victim at Caernarfon Crown Court today.
The court heard Jones and the woman had been in a relationship between 2015 and 2017. They have two children together.
In 2017, Jones committed a battery offence against his partner and breached a restraining order to protect her. He was jailed for 18 weeks.
Prosecutor Catherine Elvin told the court Jones had contact with his former partner but “rarely left her alone”. In November this year, in the weeks before the ABH offence, he rang her 200 times.
Sometimes she answered so he could talk to their children. Sometimes she asked him to leave her alone.
On November 4, he turned up at a bus stop and her home unwanted. Later that month, social services insisted he went through them to see their children.
On November 12 at 9.45pm, Jones’ former partner and Jones’ brother were at her home watching a film when the woman heard a loud bang. She went to the back door and found the defendant, who was intoxicated.
She told him to go away and tried to shut the door. But Jones “swung his hand, hitting her on the nose”, Ms Elvin told the court.
One of their children said: “Please Dad stop,” the court heard. The defendant’s brother Toby Jones rang police.
The woman went to hospital for treatment but left at 4am, probably due to the long wait, said the prosecutor.
In a statement, the woman said the incident left her “petrified”. She feels the defendant is capable of causing her serious harm.
She described him as a “monster”. She wishes she could “turn back time” so she could never meet him and regrets that he is the father of their children.
She also “fears he will terrorise her for as long as he knows her”.
Dafydd Roberts, defending, said Jones is remorseful. His mother has been diagnosed with a serious illness and he wants to leave custody as soon as possible to help her.
Jailing Jones, Her Honour Judge Nicola Jones imposed a 10-year restraining order prohibiting him from contacting his victim or referring to her on social media.
