Two women have been sentenced after assaulting and robbing a 49-year-old woman outside a business on Windsor Road, Neath in October.

Sarah Morgan, 39, of no fixed abode, and Gemma Powell, 33, from Neath town centre, struck their victim to the ground before Powell stole the victim’s handbag and mobile phone.

Morgan has been handed a 21-month prison sentence for robbery, whilst Powell received 16 weeks for ABH.

Detective Constable Bethan Owen said: “Violent crime will not be tolerated anywhere in our communities, and Sarah Morgan and Gemma Powell will now face justice for their actions.

“Attacks like the one Morgan and Powell carried out will have lasting effects on victims. I hope that they will both use their time in custody to reflect upon their actions and become more productive members of the community when they are eventually released.” 👮‍♀️
